How to draw (anything)

A lot of people seem to think that drawing requires a talent, but most of the time it comes down to practice, practice and practice. Everyone can draw, sure, if you want to draw life like, it will take a lot more training than lets say drawing from your heart. But it does not mean that you cannot draw today. One solid advice from me is to never compare your work with those of others.

If you, like me, are drawing for fun or for someone else, like a gift, be glad about the effort you have put in your making. But if your ambitions are not so subtle or want to make some profit on the side, here are some tools you can use to improve your skill.

1. Youtube

I can't emphasize this more, search for 'how to draw' followed by the thing you want to draw, and you will see many 'how to' videos showing you how to draw what you want. Sure it can be quite limiting when you draw what someone is already drawing, but copying is a great way how to improve your skill.

2. A 'how to draw' articles (i.e. liveaboutdotcom)

You can also follow online tutorials which will teach you the basics of drawing and suggest the tools which would be useful for drawing. In the example above you can find articles that will show you how to draw a specific thing, like a realistic eye. Of course, with such articles you probably won't find the very thing you wish to draw, but the skills acquired will let yo do just that.

3. drawingtutorials101

Here is a similar drawing tutorial website, but with the exception, that you can search for the specific thing or character you are drawing. Also the tutorials are in a easy to follow format, i.e. step by step image, like a comic strip.
